Just Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for a terrible burger. Fries to salty, calamari came after being here 30 minutes after ordered, soft and rubbery.... Terrible. Overall place is just a awful experience, seating arrangement in cafeteria style. Over staffed wait staff and understaffed kitchen it seems like. No quality control, pretty sad since the one in wayland is decent. They just opened but it sucked so bad.

Went on a Wednesday night with fellow officers for dinner. The waitress janelle was trying her best to accommodate about 12 people with separate check requests. We did not get drink orders in a timely manner and when I asked for a karafe of water she rolled her eyes and me and told me that she'll get it. I replied back; all I asked for was water and she kept arguing with me. After that fiasco; one of my fellow officers did not get any bread as everyone else was. I made that note and asked the waitress again; of course it was 10 min after everyone was eating a measly slice of bread. Upon ordering, she made a round robin of everyone's selection and making mine dead last.... Hmmm... Odd right? Right... Waited another 20 minutes on a not so busy night for food and of course everyone's arrived cold and the more rambunctious side got the better treatment as opposed to the quiet side of the group. All in all; dinner was not great as the food was cold, overpriced and served well beyond thier ideal temp. Jeff ratigan strolled by (assuming he was the manager for the night) smiles and everything asking how everything was. The rambunctious side of course said great as they were well attended to. I spoke my mind and he was in utter disbelief that his waitress could do that. He apologized, and came back with a business card with the restaurant manager Ashley power and the assist general manager Alexander broad bent. He tried to rectify the situation and said next time I come in to give them a call. Again he said janelle was one of his best waitress and noted people jokingly said that before and usually they mean the opposite. I told him my demeanor did not change and I was upset. He did the "manager" thing and apologized and shook my hand and off we went. Check time.... Of course everyone's check was taken first except for mine and I was last to receive mine with the comment " this belongs to that man." She called everyone respectfully by thier name on the card except for me.... Once again odd. I feel the treatment of this place for someone trying to ask for water and bread for his fellow officers was uncalled for. I would rate it nothing if I could. The food is oversalted (I had the pork tenderloin) and overpriced. Be careful of the appetizers which are prepackaged Sysco products that are reheat and eat.

My first time at Red Stripe was enjoyable .. Lunch entree included fresh lobster salad roll with the perfect and light amount of mayo.. Very generous portion! Served on a perfectly toasted roll. Calamari wasn't my favorite as somewhat under cooked for my liking. However the combo of hot and red grilled peppers was a great compliment to dish.We sat at bar and bartender was excellent . Be sure to try the humus! The crab cakes were the best!

I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars, quite honestly, only because I expected so much more from Red Stripe. I love the one in Wayland Square - it's consistently good and the food quality is on par with the price. The one in East Greenwich - not so much. We came here for a birthday celebration (i.e., lots of drinks, lots of food). The service was ho hum. I didn't think our server was especially friendly, but moreover, we set up a surprise dessert for the birthday girl and the server essentially ruined the surprise. Whomp. The food was okay. The best part of the meal that everyone seemed to agree on was that the frites were to die for. On the other hand, the burgers were largely unseasoned, the French onion soup was too hot to eat for a good 10-15 minutes, and the rest of the meal was...forgettable? Ultimately, I won't go back to this Red Stripe, choosing instead to hit up the Wayland Square location.

If you follow my reviews you're well aware that I'm a fan of the Providence Red Stripe location. I finally had the pleasure of my first dining experience at the East Greenwich location a few weeks ago and needless to say, I was not disappointed. The long bar is very attractive and separate from the dining area. I loved that the seating offers a variety of options, too. The restaurant has a classy, yet comfortable, vibe to it. Our server Kayla was highly attentive despite that she also had a large party of 8-10 at the table directly to our right. I chose the lobster roll special, which was quite literally stuffed with lobster meat (see photo). I had to use my fork first to pick out the larger claw pieces so I could actually pick it up to eat it! Please do yourself a favor and stop by Red Stripe for a lunch bite or savor your time over dinner. I will certainly be considering them for my next large get-together.

Great lunch outdoors at the tables on the sidewalk! I had the "pick two" lunch option and had 1/2 of is a chicken asiago type sandwich with mixed greens salad. Very pleased with the portion size and quality of the food. I know good bread when I see it and this bread substantial. Couldn't beat the price! I can't wait to come back for dinner and enjoy the indoor atmosphere which looked upscale but not stuffy!

Had a nice dinner here the other evening with my wife and son. Service was excellent! I really appreciate that they train there staff here - our waitress was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the beers and menu items. This is such a big part of any restaurant experience and it's sad how many places don't get it. We shared some delicious mussels, which was a generous portion. They were not only cooked expertly, but were the cleanest mussels I've had in a long time - no grit at all! My pork tenderloin was excellent. Her croque madame was delicious according to her, and my son's burger was enthusiastically devoured. I didn't try either of their entrees but they both looked great. The sandwiches are served with frites, and those were also excellent. I look forward to going back and trying a bunch of the other dishes. Many enticing options to choose from. The only off note was there was a distinct lack of music. Some background music would be a good touch.

I'm so happy they opened up this location as it is right down the street from us. I've gone to the Prov location several times and have always been a fan. I've gone to the new location 3 times now and can say the same. The food is always consistent, but the service can be a little slow. They are still working on getting into the groove and I have no doubt they will. You MUST try the Moules and Frites.....my favorite is the Portuguese style because who doesn't love chorizo. Some there favorites of mine and friends that have joined include the short ribs, hanger steak, grilled cheese with tomato soup. The one thing I would NOT recommend is the paella. Paella is meant for a Spanish restaurant who knows what they're doing. The staff is extremely pleasant and they work hard to make sure you enjoy your experience. The manager has stopped by our table to check in which is always appreciated. This will definitely be a regular spot to enjoy and has brought up the restaurant options in EG.

French onion soup, Reuben sandwich, red stripe New England chowder....excellent!!!! Service was excellent. The portions were. Large...my wife and I could only eat half of our sandwich. She had balsamic marinated chicken...awesome! Fries were incredible!! Lunch special only $14.95 included soup, gourmet sandwich and dessert! Dessert was chocolate bread pudding with caramel cream....superb!!

This was my first experience at Red Stripe, and it was a good one as far as the food...service wise it wasn't, so I couldn't give it five stars....our waiter wasn't very attentive at all....didn't check up on us very much, and we had to ask another waiter for refills on our drinks...As for as the food it was very good...I had the Steak Frites which is grilled hanger steak & house frites with Gorgonzola butter or Bordelaise butter....Gorgonzola butter was incredible...there wasn't enough of it...lol I will definitely go again, hopefully the service will be better the next time

The three times I've gone to Red Stripe I've gotten the short ribs and brussel sprouts. So. Unbelievably. Good. Portions are an appropriate size for the price.

The Red Stripe took over the former Caprice location on Main St. in EG. I removed one star from the rating because, although there was not a near-capacity crowd, the noise level, on two separate occasions, was annoying, interfering with our normal conversation. [Before re-opening, I think acoustic or sound-baffling options could have been addressed.] I ordered fish & chips which was cod loin, house frites, and coleslaw. At $15, it was more expensive than the same menu choice at Ritrovo, Chiantis, or DiMare's, I prefer a crispy, light batter rather than a thick batter and in this category the fish was superior to other restaurants. The pickled jalapeno tartar sauce was a different and welcome change to the ordinary condiment. Overall, the quality of my meal was very good.

I think it only fair that I update my review of Red Stripe in EG. They have definitely gotten past their shakedown period. We come here fairly frequently, and now we mostly love to sit at the bar, anyway, because we LOVE Kevin, the bartender and he pulls down the bottle of Campari as soon as he sees me walk in! I really LOVE that in a bartender. He is alway cheery and friendly, no matter how busy. We have ordered lots of items from the menu while drinking at the bar, and everything is always delicious. (My VERY favorite meal at Red Stripe is the hanger steak sandwich - it is seriously amazing - and is accompanied by mountains of their skinny delicious frites.) *see luscious hanger steak sandwich below. Another bartender has gotten our drink and/or dinner orders mixed up but always makes up for it and is very apologetic. We go there about every other week for dinner, usually if we're too tired to cook, or just want to see Kevin. Highly recommend Red Stripe these days. And they are ALWAYS packed. *hanger steak sandwich pictured below*

I have no complaints! Had a reservation on New Year's Day, was sat down right away. All the waiters were very attentive and on point. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. I would come here just for the hot fresh sourdough bread alone that they were passing out! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side so I'm sure it's a more of a safe bet to come with reservations. I appreciate the fact that the food reflects classical French cuisine, you don't really find that too much anymore. Clean, sharp, fresh, and a little elegant. I would definitely come back here.

We've been eager to try this place since Caprice closed and we learned Red Stripe was finally expanding beyond its East Side incarnation. We decided to wait at least a couple of weeks past their grand opening to try to avoid any hiccups that usually accompany a new opening so we ended up going this past weekend. Luckily, they are on Open Table so we can make reservations, which was a good thing as it appeared, even early in the evening (we had 5:45 pm reservations), there was a bit of a wait to get in. And the bar was pretty full as well, so there was really no good place to wait if you didn't have a reservation. Anyway, we were greeted promptly and our drink orders were taken and delivered quickly as well. We had already perused the menu on line so we pretty much knew what we were going to get - french onion soup, tomato soup, grilled cheese and fries, paella. All items were delivered at a good pace, the soups were hot and delicious, and the entrees were satisfying and tasty. The price was reasonable for EG and the service was friendly and efficient. Overall, we are happy with this addition to the EG scene and hope they stick around for a while. We definitely would consider sitting at the bar at some point, but given the crowds, we'd have to get their early.

Had Dinner Wednesday night and the food was excellent, good portions, great waitress and service. The place is very clean but very noisy when it gets crowded. The only negative was no wifi or cell service and the bratty annoying kids banging on the seats the whole time. We will be back there to eat again, well worth the money.

the original Red Stripe has a cool open kitchen, and a French bistro flair. Not sure how to say it, but a great room makes you excited for dinner when you walk in and experience the sights, sounds, and smells. The Vibe! When I heard about Red Stripe moving in, I was excited that they would certainly be demolishing the hideous "hide around the corner and stare at a blank wall" bar and open this place up! Alas, they chose to leave it as is... Red Stripe EG has all the ambiance of TGI Fridays, minus the schlock on the walls. They've managed to make the room even gloomier and more generic than the previous tenant. Service was pleasant, attentive, and very helpful with my elderly parents' questions. Food was comparable to the Providence location, if not quite as good. décor is a crappy facelift of the place that failed before.

Wasn't a huge fan, kind of a strange set up and our bartender was just really distasteful and dry with her personality... The steak frites were really good however , food good service ehhh... I will give it another shot though because I know they are just getting going at this location

We enjoyed our meal at Red Stripe. It was our first time dining at Red Stripe and we found it to be a comfortable place for dinner with friends. The menu is diverse enough to offer something for everyone. Everyone was generally happy with their food, I enjoyed the option of ordering mussels and fries which is all I need sometimes. The perfect combination. The mussels were huge and very tasty. The fries were perfect and gluten free which is great for those with allergies. The noise level can be loud in the space. We had excellent service. We did try a specialty drink that was just horrible, so be wary. Definitely recommend!

Very disappointing. An hour wait was attributed to large party next to us. Not sure why they bother having fruit, granola yogurt bowl on menu. It was a cup of super dense unflavored Greek yogurt, 4 slivers of apple, 3 blueberries & one small sliced strawberry. The worst part was the razor sharp low-quality granola.

One word. Moules frites. Just do it. Amazing. The red stripe mussels are incredible. Everything was amazing, including the incredible service. Their apple manhattan should be a regular cocktail on the menu. Great cozy atmosphere with a large menu with wonderful selections. Will absolutely be back because I haven't stopped thinking about the mussels.

Rock solid, from servers to food. Happy to finally see a place in this location that's going to stick around for awhile. It gets crowded, and the limited seats at the bar make it tough to do a walk in. Not a bad dish in the menu!

Service was outstanding and professional, the food? Deliciously fresh and perfectly timed... I waited a couple of weeks for this spot to work the bugs out before I tried it... Glad I did, definitely on my list of places to go...

We all had the most wonderful dinner tonight. The fluke special, meat and potatoes entree, the shrimp and scallop dinner, the tomato soup, desserts, martini's, wine...all absolutely delicious. The service was over the top. I can not wait to go back.

Get place to meet friends or family. Inexpensive food, great fries and cocktails. Nice environment get out of the funk and visit this place as it is warm and inviting. I am looking forward to going back to Ft Lauderdale where I now live but this place makes me forget about winter.

Thank goodness for the food, which can be quite tasty. The service was sub standard at best. This is my second time at this restaurant and both times, the service was poor. Supporting facts are that dishes were not cleared, drinks were not served and the manager, once provided with the information of dissatifaction, made a meager attempt to remedy the situation and the waiter never once apologized. Instead, he sent over his helper to clean up.

Had the opportunity to get here with my wife and no kids so we could focus on this new addition to East Greenwich since they took over the old caprice. Sat at the bar. The staff was attentive but preoccupied it seemed. They didn't introduce themselves, which is a really nice gesture in my opinion. The food was fantastic. We started with the duck confit cakes as an app. Well prepared, could have used a little more of the cranberry Demi glacé. For our entrees I had the beef stroganoff and my wife had the pasta and meatball. The meatball is the size of a cannon ball. Flavorful! Stroganoff was awesome the meat was tender and melt I your mouth. I would suggest they tell the folks that wash their napkins to lighten up on the starch. I hope this place sticks around.

Gave this new EG location a whirl as I've had good experiences at the Providence space. Food did not disappoint-- same menu as Prov and executed quite well. Server had no problem accommodating some finicky side dish substitutions. Fish dishes were quite fresh. Cocktails were underwhelming. Service needs to step up. Seven or eight servers shooting the breeze by the bar while tables hailed them down for bread and drinks-- not so stellar. We'll be back to see if they can work out the kinks.

We visited Red Stripe EG the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and couldn't get in the door! Good for you! Came back the Saturday after and could not tell what the excitement was about. The wine list was good and fairly priced (all glasses I saw were under $10.) Service at the bar was attentive, and the crowd was well dressed and animated. The food was just OK, I had bouillabaisse, my date had the mussels and frites. Neither was impressive. The shellfish in mine was room temp on top of hot broth, which tells me they weren't actually cooked together. The mussel plate was tasty but undercooked as only about half the mussels opened. The frites were soggy and the portion minuscule, with a large proportion of tiny bits rather than the graceful long frites I remember in Europe. East Greenwich has so many good restaurants this won't last long if it doesn't improve. I like RS in Providence, but i'd have to agree with the reviews below, this location is not up to the original.

I ate here last night with my wife. It was a nice day so we decided to sit outside. The service was poor at best, we received our drinks and bread, ordered and waited at least 30 minutes before we saw our waitress again, however the other wait staff appeared to visit their tables at least 3-5 times in that period. We received our meals, a seafood pasta dish and the salmon. My wife was really enjoying her salmon and the pasta was good as well, until I observed a piece of hair embedded in the linguine. Occasionally this happens, but when removed the hair was approx 8-12 inches long. Needless to say our appetites were no longer with us. We alerted our waitress when she finally returned to the table 20 minutes later. The manager Dana was very nice and accommodating, comping the entire meal. Obviously our experience was not the norm, at least I hope not and besides the hair the food was excellent, I took one star away based on the sub par service and one for the poor experience.

Our party of 9 sits down and we read a disclaimer written on a note card. The note card was basically apologizing for any "mistakes" we might have with food, service, etc.. I am not kidding there was really a note card written by the manager Alex, had never seen anything like this before. We should have immediately left after reading this because the notecard would prove to be more than accurate. Ticket time was at least 1 hr. When the food came out it was not good! This place was really a worst case scenario every step of the way...

So sad. Love Red Stripe in Provie but the EG one is not ready. Medium rare steak was well done, fries were pure grease. They will get better I'm sure.

I guess when one lives into their 60's, places like this aren't thrilling. We arrived the evening of the Triple Crown and the crowd was tuned into the TV sets. I was able to get past that but the noise was beyond tolerable. After the race was over a fair number of the revelers entered the dining area in the back. The building has nothing but hard surfaces that helped amplify the din. That aside, I found the food less than great. I tried the potato pierogies. They were dry and crunchy, NOTHING like the pierogies I have eaten anywhere in the past. They seemed to come from a big box that was purchased at Sam's Club or Costco. Those dining with me ranged in age from late 40's through early 70's. I can't recall anyone swooning over the food or the ambience. However, the place was very full and as a business I think it will do well. Just don't expect someone like me to return. I want more than a Steak and Brew mentality, although that comment alone is probably lost on a limited audience as well.

I had dinner here for the first time and definitely will go back! I couldn't decide what to have but the waitress was very patient and gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and ask questions. I had the Red Stripe burger which consisted of a 10 oz burger, onions, guacamole and cheese. While I could have opted for a salad as my side I went with the fries- great choice!

I was excited to see that a new Red Stripe location had opened in EG and was not disappointed. My husband and I sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and friendly, but was very overworkwd. He was the only one waiting on a full bar crowd as well as filling drink orders for the waitstaff in the very busy dining room. Although he was busy, he gave great service. I enjoyed the simple tini... tito's vodka and rosemary and thyme simple syrup...refreshing and delcious. We split a half order of red stripe mussels (huge mussels and creamy pesto broth), the roasted red pepper croquettes (2 large servings) and the scallop entree (served with a butternut risotto). Everything was delicious! We left full, but everything was light enough that we did not feel weighed down. Their menu is quite expansive and we are looking forward to returning again to try out some other options!

I don't do this often but because I am in a management position in hospitality I feel it is necessary. I went to red stripe for lunch with my mother and brother to try out the new restaurant. When I left I was more than disappointed. First, the lights were far too bright, regardless of time of day. Ambiance is key and it felt like I was in a cafeteria never-mind a restaurant. The drink list was lacking, the server was chewing gum and did not know the 4 beers you had on tap without having to look over to the bar for verification. I love the providence location, as I was a student at Providence College and frequented the location in Wayland Square, however, putting a laminated piece of paper asking guests to "excuse mistakes" two weeks after opening is tacky and unprofessional. If you're going to open a new location, do it right and avoid a cop-out introduction to your guests. Along with copying the loyalty program offered by Newport Restaurant Group properties ($35 for every $500 spent), you are not able to sign up in house and are told to "sign up online" instead. Only saving grace was the food was decent. Front of house needs a LOT of work. Will not return and have heard similar disappointing experiences from friends across the industry. You need a serious clean up and reevaluation in East Greenwich Red Stripe! Very disappointing first experience.
